Houston Civil Rights Group Provides Guidance Amid Intensified ICE Operations
A prominent Houston civil rights organization, Familias Inmigrantes y Estudiantes en Lucha (FIEL Houston), is stepping up to assist residents potentially affected by heightened immigration enforcement activities under policies initiated during Donald Trump’s presidency. Over the weekend, U.S. Customs and Immigration Enforcement (ICE) agents launched targeted operations across Texas, resulting in multiple arrests. North Texas cities saw a significant number of detentions, while other areas, including Texas City and Galveston, also reported arrests. According to the Galveston County Daily News, one individual was taken into custody in Texas City, while three others were detained in Galveston as part of a covert operation.
